JOIN OUR TEAM
Travel Queen is growing and we’re looking for super enthusiastic, proactive and reliable team members with admin, customer service, marketing and creative content experience to join our team!
Hi, I'm Mel, the founder of Travel Queen; a group tour operator company providing group adventures for women aged 25 to 59. Our tour destinations currently include Bali, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Hawaii, Montenegro, Thailand and Vietnam & Cambodia, and we have loads more planned. We have incredibly loyal customers, a.k.a our 'Travel Queens', with many returning for their second, third, fourth, fifth and even sixth and seventh tours with us already!
We know that what we offer is unique and special, and isn't just about amazing holidays but also about empowering women and often making a positive difference to their lives long after a tour is over, through the new friendships that are formed with other women and feelings of greater confidence and self belief that our Travel Queens tell us they experience too.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a stable, super personal and unique small business, that you will become a massively important part of and where you will have huge opportunities to learn, develop and progress, as our team grows even more. I'm writing this in person because since we became a certified member of the Travel Trust Association in July 2017 the business has been run solely by myself, but as we approach our 7th birthday, it is time for us to grow.
I want to build a team of people who are as passionate about what we provide to our customers as I am, who can help to not only keep the standard of our customer service and whole tour experience super high, but raise it even higher, and to grow our community to reach a much wider audience of women too.
It will be me personally carrying out the whole recruitment process and if you join our team you will work very closely with, and directly beside, me in our South Manchester office.
Travel Queen is extremely important to me and I've invested a lot of myself into building it, so as you can imagine, this means I have extremely high standards and expectations! I’m looking for super enthusiastic, hardworking people with impressive initiative and a commitment to learning. There's a lot more work that goes into running Travel Queen behind the scenes, than people realise from following us on social media and seeing the glamorous travel side!
I am also a big believer in the simple, important things in life, like making sure you're happy, healthy and doing something you love, and being well rewarded for hard work and dedication. It's really important to me to make sure that anyone who works at Travel Queen feels all of these things, and that you're part of a real team, all working closely together to build something even more special.
Taking care of your physical and mental wellbeing is very important to me and we have a very cool, travel themed, 'not very officey' new Travel Queen HQ (check out our socials for updates) at Abney Hall in Abney Park in Cheadle, South Manchester, where you can make use of our sit-to-stand-up desks, comfy lounge breakout space and time out in our beautiful woodland surroundings to recharge. There's even a little waterfall you can sit by on your lunch!
While there will be times I will have to travel and run our tours, I'm also putting in place more overseas Tour Leaders to run them for me, so I will have even more time at home to build our team, and create social activities out of the office for us to get to know each other too.
As key members of our UK team, our South Manchester HQ in Cheadle is where you will be based on a full time basis.
The main areas we need support with first are detailed in the job descriptions below, but if your experience covers both of these roles or you are a little more experienced, we’d like to hear from you too.
Finding the right people to work closely together as a happy, productive little team is the most important thing to me, and I may even shape the exact roles, responsibilities, hours and salary around the right people. So, as part of completing your application, please tell me as much as you can about your experience and strengths in the areas we need support, and what your current salary and preferred working hours are.
We are looking for people to work full time, usual office hours Monday to Friday, but our customers can also be most active outside of these hours, so you may also be required to have some flexibility and occasionally work until the early evenings on some weeknights and on weekends.
Check out what kind of support we need in the job descriptions below, then scroll down to see how to submit your application with your CV and covering letter.
The closing date is 14 July and interviews will be held in the week/s commencing 22/29 July, with a view to starting with us on 2 September.
If you would need to give your current employer more than one month's notice, please let us know that in your application.
If you found this page through Indeed, there is no need to submit an application through their website as well, as applying here through our website is our preferred way for you to submit your application and it will come directly to me.
Please be aware that our office is located on the second floor and due to the building's historic nature, there is no lift, so the only access is by the stairs. We also have a regular office visitor, a.k.a. our super cute furry friend Murph the dog, who likes to hang out at Travel Queen HQ, usually sleeping in the corner!
Please share the link to this page with anyone you think might be interested in joining our team and help us spread the word by sharing it on your social media too.
Thank you and good luck with your application!
Mel
