OUR ITINERARY

DAY 1 - ARRIVE AT OUR SEASIDE GLAMPSITE AND MEET YOUR CAMP BUDDIES!

South Wales' Pembrokeshire Coast is the only place in the UK given National Park status for its coastal landscape, which basically means it's the most beautiful coast Brits can get to without having to get on a plane! It's home to the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail, that covers some of the most varied coastal scenery in Britain, characterised by dramatic cliffs, deep blue and clear turquoise waters, and some simply beautiful beaches you just won't believe aren't somewhere more exotic!

On arrival you'll be met by the incredible sea views and chilled countryside vibes of our fantastic camp site right in the heart of this beautiful part of the UK. Our dedicated glamping camp will be set up ready, complete with luxurious bell tents and fabulous festival style marquee!

Get settled in then join us for a delicious dinner; all meals are included throughout the tour so no cooking and washing up for you at this camp; this is Travel Queen after all! As the sun sets over the sea and the stars come out, grab a drink by the campfire and get to know your camp buddies, other independent women looking for adventure just like you, about to become new friends.

DAY 2 - COASTAL WALK TO BEACHES, BLUE LAGOON & HARBOUR VILLAGE!

Wake up slowly and emerge from your spacious bell tent to breathe in fresh seaside air... and the smell of bacon butties for breakfast!

Today we're off to explore this incredible coastline right on our doorstep. Setting off on foot from our camp, once you've had time for a lazy morning and made use of the hot showers of course, our first stop will be Abereiddi Beach and the Blue Lagoon. From here we'll head along the coastal path to Traeth Llyfn Beach and picturesque Porthgain harbour.

We'll spend about two and a half hours walking, stopping to explore the beaches, rock pools and the village along the way, where there's a great little harbourside fish and chip shop and an historic pub dating back to the 18th century, so it'd be rude not to pay a visit.

Back at our camp settle in for another night of hearty home cooked food, drinks around the campfire and the art of making smores (think gooey, fire toasted marshmallow and chocolatey yumminess)!

DAY 3 - DOLPHIN & WILDLIFE WATCHING BOAT TRIP!

After another chilled morning at our camp and the option for some sea view yoga we're heading off for a little adventure on the Irish Sea in search of some wonderful Welsh wildlife!

We'll be heading out off the south coast of Wales, passing the striking Ramsey and Skomer Islands and the Smalls Lighthouse, home to thousands of gannets perched on cliff sides and where seals and puffins can be spotted basking on the rocks.

Out here our experienced local team know the best spots where there's a very good chance of spotting dolphins and if we're lucky, maybe even whales!

In the evening you'll be well fed as usual then simply chill out at your tent or join us in our marquee for games night!

DAY 4 - EXPLORE THE COAST BY KAYAK OR TRY COASTEERING!

It's time to stop just looking at the coast and get up close with it! Today you'll have the opportunity to explore this amazing coastline by kayak, making your way around the beaches, cliffs, caves and inlets and maybe even spotting some more of that wonderful wildlife along the way.

It isn't too strenuous as don't worry we won't be covering any big distances in the open ocean and waves, just a bit of chilled out exploration staying close to the coastline. You'll even have chance to get out and go for a little jump off the rocks if you fancy it. For those really up for getting even more stuck in, you can opt to try coasteering instead of kayaking.

Coasteering is basically making your way along the coastline by swimming, climbing, jumping, whatever means necessary, but don't worry our expert local guides have all the routes sussed out for us so there aren't any surprises we won't be able to deal with.

If all this sounds a bit too adventurous you can always chill at the beach and watch the rest make a splash, or simply hang out back at our camp. If you're feeling creative, have a go at some crafting activities!

DAY 5 - HIKE TO WHITESANDS BEACH OR FREE TIME!

Today is our last day and you have the option to join us for a longer hike along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, this time south to St David's Head Peninsula and the stunning Whitesands Beach, or choose to spend the day however you like. You could chill at our camp, take a shorter walk nearby, or if you came by car, take a drive out to see some more of this beautiful region.

The pretty little seaside town of Tenby with its quaint rainbow coloured buildings, picturesque harbour and bustling bars, restaurants and cafes could be mistaken for somewhere in Europe at a glance, and is about an hour's drive away. Or you could head to the UK's smallest city of St David's to visit the cathedral and art galleries, or one of the many other beautiful beaches in the area.

For our last night of the tour we'll enjoy a full barbecue and raise a toast to finally getting away on a long awaited adventure and making new friends after one hell of a past year, as we watch our final sunset over the sea. Things are looking up!

DAY 6 - LAST MORNING ON CAMP THEN HEAD HOME

After an action-packed few days but with plenty of time to chill, it's time to tear ourselves away from our fabulous little camp and head home with some amazing memories and new friends, who you might just meet again at local Travel Queen events or on another adventure with us!

A final breakfast will be provided and there'll even be time for one last little visit to the nearby beach. You won't need to worry about any of the usual camping deconstruction as we'll be taking care of all of that.

You'll need to make your own way home but please see our FAQs below for details on getting to and from the camp, how you can get to know other women joining this tour before we go, and for reviews from women who've been on other Travel Queen group tours and share their experience about what it was like for them doing this for the first time.

FAQS

WHO IS THIS TOUR SUITABLE FOR?

As with all Travel Queen tours, our Wales Adventure is for women only, aged 25 to 59 who are up for fun and adventure and of a good standard of health and fitness, due to the adventurous, physical nature of the activities included, and particularly for this tour, those up for the glamping and very outdoorsy experience, whatever the weather!

HOW DO WE GET TO AND FROM THE CAMP?

You'll need to make your own way to our camp in North Pembrokeshire, on the South Wales coast, ideally by car, and there is free parking at the campsite. We will provide detailed directions within your booking confirmation.

Alternatively, it is possible to get trains to Fishguard or more frequent train services to Haverfordwest train station, both of which are about a 30 minute drive away from our camp. You'll then need to arrange a taxi service to pick you up from the station and bring you to the camp and we can provide local taxi information for you, or help to arrange this at an additional cost.

If you would like to arrange to car share or travel on the train and share a taxi with others on the tour, you'll be able to meet other women in the group through our dedicated Facebook group for the Wales Adventure, that you'll be invited to join after booking.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?
  • 5 nights' shared accommodation in a spacious bell tent with a maximum of 3 other women - your tent will be set up ready for your arrival and you don't need to bring any camping equipment or bedding as this will be provided!

  • All meals are included every day; 5 breakfasts, 4 lunches (including packed lunches for days out) and 5 dinners

  • All activities described within the itinerary, including two guided coastal walks, informal yoga sessions with a sea view, the choice of a kayaking or coasteering experience, a wildlife watching boat trip (with transfers to and from the harbour), plus crafting activities and games nights!

  • Provision of a central group marquee and a campfire for socialising in the evenings

  • A group leader (Travel Queen owner, Mel) to take care of everything so you can relax and enjoy!

WHAT ISN'T INCLUDED?
  • Transport to and from the camp at the start and end of the tour

  • Snacks and drinks outside of meal times and alcoholic drinks - you can bring your own and a cool box or bag to keep things chilled in your tent if you like

  • Personal travel insurance - as with any trip you are responsible for taking out personal travel insurance to cover yourself, your personal belongings, the activities involved in this tour (some of which may be classed as of an adventurous nature by insurance providers) and any potential impact of COVID-19

WILL THERE BE SOMEWHERE SECURE I CAN LEAVE VALUABLES?

As this is a glamping tour, accommodation will be in tents, so please keep valuables to a minimum and do not leave any valuables in your tent but with you at all times.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS OR GETS COLD?

We've had some fantastic weather recently and fingers crossed we'll get sunny, warm, dry weather...but we are in the UK after all so need to be prepared for wet and cold weather just in case!

Your bell tents are of course waterproof and we will have a large, private marquee at the heart of our camp for our group to enjoy drinks, food and just to chill out inbetween activities and in the evening. It provides fully rainproof shelter while providing a COVID safe, fully ventilated outdoor space.

You should bring some waterproof clothing, footwear and headwear, and plenty of changes of clothing to make sure you can keep warm and dry throughout the tour during our activities (all of which will still go ahead if it rains!) and when going between your tent, our marquee and the shower and toilet cubicles, which will be a walk from your tent.

You should bring clothes suitable for warm weather with an optimistic mind, but also for wet and cold weather remembering we are in the UK and will be on the coast. If you haven't camped before you should expect it to get quite cold in the evening, even if it is a warm day, so bring ample warm clothing and layers to sleep in and spend time in the camp at night. Your bedding that we provide includes a thick duvet and fleece blanket, but please feel free to bring additional blankets if you wish.

HOW CAN I GET TO KNOW THE GROUP BEFORE THE TOUR?

We will have a dedicated, private Facebook group just for the Wales Adventure so you can see, meet and message other women in the group before the tour. This is where we'll share tips and advice about practical things like what to pack, facilitate any requests for travelling to the camp together and where we can count down to an amazing adventure together!

We will also hold an online Zoom meet-up before the trip that everyone can join, and if you are local to the North West and are able to attend any of the regular events that we host in the area, you might be able to meet other local women booked onto the tour in person before the tour too.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO SHARES A TENT?

Places in bell tents will be allocated by us before the tour starts and if there is someone you would like to share with you can let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate this, but can't guarantee this will be possible.

CAN I BRING MY OWN TENT OR CAMPER VAN?

Prices for the tour and the space allocated on our camp have been calculated based on everyone sharing one of the bell tents that will be provided, and in the first instance we will only be taking bookings of this nature. Nearer to the tour, if we still have places and space available we may be able to accommodate people who wish to bring their own tent or camper van but cannot guarantee that this will be an option.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

Sorry but dogs aren't allowed to join you on the tour! As much as we love our furry friends the accommodation and activities we have planned aren't suitable for your dog to join us.

I'VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS!

If this is the first time you have ever done anything like this - don't worry, most of the women who book onto our tours are exactly the same as you! If you need some inspiration from other women about what it's like to join a group tour where you don't know anybody else before you go, you can read and watch the amazing feedback and videos from women who have been on a Travel Queen tour on our Meet Real Travel Queens page here or give Mel a call for a chat - that's why I'm here!
