Hey, I'm Mel and that's me up there with all the lovely local people exploring Vietnam and Cambodia to plan this adventure! As I do with all Travel Queen tours, I've personally designed every last detail of our itinerary after spending loads of time researching and trying everything out myself first, and working with local companies to find the best places to visit, accommodation to stay in and things to do!

DAY 1 - VIETNAM'S CAPITAL CITY OF HANOI & VESPA FOOD TOUR!
From Hanoi airport you'll be taken to our beautiful 5* boutique hotel in the bustling Old Quarter of Vietnam's capital city. You'll have time to relax, maybe stretch your legs with a walk around the city and nearby lake, or chill at the stunning rooftop pool or gorgeous spa. Just before the sun starts to set we'll meet everyone for drinks in the rooftop skybar, complete with stunning panoramic views across the city and Hoan Kiem Lake!
We'll then meet our professional drivers to begin our adventure through the magical back streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter on vintage scooters, tasting local food and drinks in quirky little places across the city! Everyone LOVES this experience and it is usually one of most people's real highlights of Vietnam!
You'll try classic Vietnamese Pho, Bun Cha and Nem spring rolls and other snacks in authentic local places, discover delicious Vietnamese egg coffee and end the night in Hanoi's famous Vietnamese '30s style jazz bar!

DAY 2 - EXPLORE HANOI'S OLD QUARTER & TEMPLES!
Hanoi is one of those places where you really know you're somewhere unique! There's a surprising mix of French and Asian architecture, the streets burst with masses of motorbikes, bombing about and crowds of locals line the streets on toddler sized brightly coloured plastic stools, tucking into Vietnamese
pho noodles and beer!
Today you'll experience all of this on a city tour with our local guide, you'll learn about Vietnam and Hanoi, visit some of the city's sights, temples and pagodas, explore the Old Quarter streets by traditional cyclo rickshaw and have the option to get kitted out like a Vietnamese woman in a traditional Ao Dai dress for some memorable photos!
We'll end the day with drinks overlooking one of Hanoi's craziest junctions, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square before heading to Hanoi's famous 'Bia Hoi', or Beer Corner for street food and drinks in the city's liveliest night spot!

DAY 3 - HALONG BAY CRUISE, SECRET CAVES & BEACHES, SQUID FISHING & STAR GAZING!
Time to visit one of the natural wonders of the world, the breathtakingly beautiful Halong Bay, bursting with limestone karsts and islands that soar out of the emerald sea! The best way to experience it in all its glory, as it changes from moody misty mornings to bright sunshiny days and stunning sunsets, is on a two day overnight cruise on board a traditional Vietnamese style junk cruise ship.
Check into your fantastic cabin with private balcony then head to the rooftop sundeck for incredible panoramic views as we sail off into the bay, before a delicious buffet lunch is served. We have exclusive access to our cruise company's own stunning beach and cave for us to explore in the afternoon, unspoiled by the crowds of tourists that flock here.
We'll be back on board for happy hour and sunset on the rooftop deck. Chill until dinner or take part in the cooking class. After dinner, relax or have a go at night time squid fishing with the crew, then soak up a night of star gazing on the rooftop deck!

DAY 4 - TAI CHI, KAYAKING & MONKEYS & TRAVEL TO NINH BINH!
Start the day at sunrise with the centuries old martial art of tai chi on the rooftop deck, as the bay slowly appears around you from the mist. Or, enjoy a lie in and watch the views from your bed or balcony! After a light breakfast we venture off by kayak through a cave tunnel to an enclosed lagoon surrounded by towering cliffs, home to hundreds of macaque monkeys!
A delicious buffet brunch is served back on board as we sail back to the harbour and soak up the last views of the bay, before our journey to our next stop in the North Vietnam countryside.
Beautiful Ninh Binh is home to some of the country's most impressive inland scenery and Vietnam's ancient original imperial city. When we arrive we'll check into our 4* traditional Vietnamese style retreat, alongside Van Long Nature Reserve, where you'll have the evening to relax and soak up your surroundings.

DAY 5 - HIKE TO DRAGON VIEWPOINT, EXPLORE CAVES BY SAMPAN BOAT & VISIT ANCIENT HOA LU CITY!
Our private tour with local guide takes us first to Hang Mua Cave and Dragon Mountain Viewpoint. Nearly 500 steps up to the top follow the model of a miniature Great Wall of China, leading to incredible panoramic views of Tam Coc, Trang An and Ninh Binh city, rice fields, limestone mountains and lotus flower fields. Next we visit the ancient capital of Vietnam, Hoa Lu, and its temple and fortress ruins that date back to the 10th century.
We take a break for lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant before continuing to our next stop at Trang An lake. We'll hop in traditional Vietnamese style, wooden sampan boats, rowed by local women in conical Vietnamese hats, to explore the lake as it winds through small caves and grottos, surrounded by towering cliffs and passing by lakeside temples and pagodas. If you're feeling competitive grab an oar and see which team has the fastest rowing skills!
After an action packed day we head back to our hotel to relax by the pool with incredible mountain views before enjoying a relaxing second evening in the countryside.

DAY 6 - TRAVEL TO PRETTY, LANTERN FILLED, RIVERSIDE HOI AN!
This morning we head back to Hanoi Airport for a domestic one hour flight to Da Nang Airport, to reach our next stop and Vietnam's prettiest city, Hoi An. I couldn't walk more than a few steps at a time without getting my camera out here, and as we explore you'll see why!
This riverside city has an easygoing vibe, full of colourful French colonial style buildings and hidden Asian temples, pagodas and bridges, lively markets and postcard-perfect, lantern filled streets.
We stay in a beautiful 4* riverside resort with two swimming pools and a spa, in fantastic rooms just a short walk from the ancient town! After checking in we'll head into the heart of the town to explore the quaint little streets, bars, restaurants, shops and markets.

DAY 7 - FREE TIME & TEMPLE SPOTTING WALKING TOUR!
You have some free time today to chill out. Take time out by one of the two swimming pools, hire a bike to go cycling, or treat yourself to some spa time.
Hoi An is known for its many high quality, silk shops if you feel like spoiling yourself to something tailor made.
In the afternoon we head into Hoi An Old Town for some exploring to search for a hidden trail of temples, pagodas and historic, cultural and arty landmarks!
Tonight we'll sample some street food and the lively bars along the river where we can enjoy some drinks and a great atmosphere watching passing-by cyclo drivers and colourful lantern lit boats along the river.

DAY 8 - FREE TIME - BEACH DAY & COCKTAILS ANYONE?!
Today the whole day is yours to do what you like after a busy few days so far. Head into the Old Town to explore more or simply chill out and relax at our beautiful riverside hotel.
Why not head out of town to explore the beach and chilled beachfront bars, just a short taxi ride away?
If that all sounds too chilled though and lounging's not your thing, you'll have the option* of joining a fantastic cooking class that even includes the chance to visit a local market and have a go at Vietnamese style farming, and the option to take part in a lantern making class too!

DAY 9 - TRAVEL TO SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA!
Today we fly to Cambodia and the city of Siem Reap, home to the awe-inspiring Temple of Angkor Wat. The temple is the national symbol of Cambodia, featured on the country's flag, and the reason most tourists travel here, among other iconic temples and ruins considered sacred by local Khmer people, that we'll explore during our stay.
We take a private air conditioned transfer from our hotel to Da Nang Airport to catch our international flight to Siem Reap Airport. After arriving at our beautiful resort set in tropical gardens surrounding a fantastic swimming pool, we'll get checked in to our deluxe rooms where we'll spend the next three nights.
Tonight we head to Siem Reap's 'Pub Street' to soak up the lively atmosphere and get excited about our plans for some epic ancient ruins and temple exploring over the next couple of days.

DAY 10 - EXPLORE SIEM REAP CITY, TEMPLES & MARKETS!
Wake to the beautiful tropical surroundings of our resort and as Cambodia's hotter temperatures hit you, you're going to want to spend some time by our gorgeous tropical swimming pool too!
Grab a drink at the poolside bar, relax with a spa treatment or just enjoy the pool for a few hours.
In the afternoon we’ll head out to explore Siem Reap city on a walking tour, stopping along the way to see Buddhist temples and the Royal Residence and Independence Gardens. The temples you'll see today are more modern, recently built versions in more frequent daily use by the local community, than the more epic ancient ruin temples that we'll explore tomorrow.
After a little wander we'll head to the crafts and clothing markets for some shopping before getting some food on Pub Street. Tonight will be an early night as we're up at sunrise tomorrow!

DAY 11 - WATCH THE SUNRISE & EXPLORE ANGKOR WAT, BAYON & TA PROMH!
Today is a magical, step back in time kinda-day, that starts with watching the sunrise over the mother of all temples, the famous Angkor Wat. It is the world's largest religious building
stretching over a 402 acre site, surrounded by outer walls and a moat, built in the 12th century as Hindu, before gradually being transformed into a Buddhist temple. It is an important source of pride and strength to all Cambodian people and why millions travel to Cambodia every year.
After exploring Angkor Wat we visit two of the area's other most interesting temples. Ta Prohm has nearly disappeared into the jungle, with trees pushing between the stones, it looks as though nature's trying to swallow the whole thing up! The mysterious Royal City of Angkor Thom and Bayon has a 54-tower temple, which at first seems a shapeless mass of stone, but closer you'll see a face, then another and another, until suddenly you are surrounded by the smiling gaze of over 200 faces carved into the stone.
Full of history and wonder and with about a thousand photographs, we'll head back to snooze and dream by the pool!

DAY 12 - TRAVEL HOME / ONWARDS AS THE TOUR ENDS
It's time for our adventure to come to an end. You'll need to get a return flight home from Siem Reap International Airport or stay a little longer if you like.
